Naturopathic Medicine is a unique systemic approach of traditional medical concepts: (holistic medicine from Europe and Asia) with the incorporation of evidence-based understanding to help and address modern sickness.
The primary principle of Naturopathic Medicine is to stimulate the body's own healing ability through various modalities and treatments. Lambton Naturopathic Clinic focuses on the promotion of healthy living (prevention), identify underlying factors (potential risks) and the management of existing issues.
We provide care with extra focuses on the following:
Hormonally related conditions:
menopause support: (bio-identical hormones), fertility support, Thyroid support (compounded thyroid hormones)
Environmental Medicine:
(biochemical, physiological tests and support)
Cancer supportive therapies:
Local Regional Hyperthermia, Viscum Album European Mistletoe, High dose intravenous vitamin C, Nutrients and botanical formulas
Lifestyle management therapy:
Metabolic problems (inflammation, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterols), Clinical nutrition

Naturopathic Doctors in Ontario require additional college board examinations (Pharmaceutical Prescription Board Exam) to gain prescription rights. Our clinic can address the needs of our patients with hormonal issues with natural substances, botanicals and bio-identical hormones. (These hormones are identical to the body's natural production of hormone compounds). The purpose of using these is to help support the body's overall function and alleviate the symptoms caused by deficiencies of these naturally occurring hormones.
Medications:
Bio-Identical hormones: (topical estrogens and topical Progesterone) for menopausal symptoms.
Bio-identical Thyroid hormones (compounded thyroid hormones) for thyroid issues.
At the Lambton Naturopathic clinic, we provide supportive care for patients going through or after their conventional cancer treatment journey. We utilize various modalities to offer our support that may be potentially beneficial to our patients:
These supports increase energy levels and decrease fatigue and better management of overall stress level to improve quality of life .
Preventive measures to help reduce the risk of recurrence and increase survival post-conventional treatments. (lifestyle modifications, risk factors stratification and nutritional support, stress management education).
Potentially reduce the side effects of conventional treatments (chemotherapy) and increase tolerability and efficacy.
Education and sharing of current evidence-based/scientific researched approach to integrative cancer support.
Our environment over the last 100 years has changed significantly in conjunction with our advancement of technology and industrialization. Chemicals and pollutants have demonstrated their abilities to interfere with our innate abilities to self regulate and heal. Hence the emergence of environmental medicine as a field to help identify, research, reduce the impact of chemicals/ pollutant's effect on the human.
Illnesses such as multiple chemical sensitivities (MCS), part of chronic fatigue syndrome (CF), Fibromyalgia (FM) and more familiar issues of heavy metal/pesticide/herbicide exposures are all part of this collective category.
At Lambton Naturopathic Clinic, we help patients identify various exposures that may affect our wellness as well as through education and natural support to help people decrease their physiological burden.
Oncothermia is a modulated-electro-hyperthermia device for oncological use. This treatment method is used against different types of solid tumors. The principles are based on the classical method of Hyperthermia. Hyperthermia is defined as a greatly increased temperature in the body.
Oncothermia increases the body temperature in a specific local region of the body. In addition to the increase in temperature, the direct electric-field energy absorption in the extracellular liquid destroys the membrane of the cancer cells. The method transfers energy using the principle of capacitive coupling (like a condenser) of radio waves of 13.56 MHz. It utilizes the special absorption rate of the near-membrane extracellular liquid of the tumour. The tumor tissue has lower impedance than the surrounding tissues, so most of the energy is absorbed by the cancerous lesion. This energy destabilizes the cancer cell membrane which in turn causes tumour cell death.
In general, oncothermia is not used as a sole therapy. Usually it is combined with chemotherapy, radiotherapy or other therapies and their combination.
Oncothermia is a safe, non-invasive and very easy to use treatment modality for most solid tumour cancers. Most treatments are one hour in length, although the treatments are individually tailored to each patients circumstances and is determined by a variety of individual factors. The electrode will be placed directly on the skin. The treatment itself is generally painless, although some discomfort/redness may be felt on the skin at times during treatment. Adjustments will be made to reduce or eliminate discomfort if needed.
Side effects are generally minimal with most people only reporting mild fatigue after treatments.
Mistletoe is a medicinal plant that has been used for centuries. In ancient times mistletoe was often used to treat wounds, ulcers and diseases of the spleen. Mistletoe is at the heart of complementary cancer therapy due to its well studied modes of action on the human body. Complementary measures do not aim to replace standard therapies, but rather to reduce their side effects and to improve the patient’s quality of life.
Mistletoe shows several modes of action.
1) boosts the immune system by activating and multiplying the immune cells.
2) induces apoptosis (natural cell death) in tumour cells which inhibits tumour growth
3) immune cells and normal healthy cells are protected against further injury.
4) Anti-angiogenisis function
5) Decrease side effects of conventional therapies (chemo and radiation therapy).
Patients report that mistletoe therapy significantly improves their quality of life. For example:
• Improved general well-being
• Less fatigue, especially during and after chemotherapy
• Less nausea
• Improved appetite
• Less pain sensation, so fewer painkillers and sedatives are needed
• Less frequent depressive moods
IV Vitamin C Therapy General benefits include:
1) Reduction in pain after injuries
2) Increases the body's ability to heal faster
3) Improves a patients energy levels and decreases fatigue
4) Improves the response to traditional cancer treatments (chemotherapy and radiation) thereby improving energy levels, appetite and activity level.
5) Anti-inflammatory
6) Support healthy immune functions.
1) Peroxide Based Cytotoxicity – In theory evidence suggests vitamin C in high dose concentration yields a large concentration of hydrogen peroxide in the connective tissue of the body. In healthy cells the hydrogen peroxide is processed by the cells, but in selective cancer cell lines often lack sufficient ability to eliminate hence the potential build up of the molecule which may cause cytotoxicity. (Chen et al, 2005)
2) Potentially Inhibits Tumor Growth and Metastasis – most tumors successfully invade other body tissues and metastasize based on functioning of various enzymes within the body. Vitamin C may inhibit the activity of these enzymes and also promote the production of collagen which may play a role in stabilizing the tumor and preventing local tissue invasion. (Chen et al, 2008)
3) Chemosensitization – Ascorbic Acid has been tested in tissue cultures and animal models in combination with many different chemotherapeutics to evaluate a combined effect on cancer cell lines. Studies demonstrate the Intravenous Vitamin C enhances certain chemotherapeutics and potentially decrease side effects. (Anderson et al, 2013)
4) Angiogenesis Inhibition - the process of new blood vessel growth toward and into a tumor is called angiogenesis. This is a key factor in the tumours growth and metastasis. Vitamin C has a direct effect on the production of collagen, which could act to prevent the formation of vascular tubules (Ashino et al., 2003), and also vitamin C can inhibit the genes that express angiogenesis
5) Deficiency correction - It has been noted that many cancer patients have low levels of Vitamin C in tissue stores. IV Vitamin C infusions prove to be an efficient and productive means to correcting the deficiency.
